At Saint Bede Academy, the refectory has long been a place where students gather, connect and build community. Now, through the 2026 Fund-A-Need initiative, Saint Bede is taking the next step in strengthening student life with a complete modernization of the Academy’s kitchen facilities.

This transformation will create a modern culinary hub designed to prioritize student health, food safety, efficiency and service quality - empowering staff to prepare and serve nutritious meals with great speed, confidence and care.

A Modern Kitchen Designed for the Future

The new commercial kitchen will feature an integrated design that seamlessly connects kitchen operations with the student refectory and boarding student dining rooms, improving the entire process from preparation to plate.

The redesigned space will utilize the historic cloister as a transitional corridor and incorporate new exit doors from the refectory to the serving area, significantly enhancing the flow and efficiency of student lunch service while honoring the architectural heritage of Saint Bede.

With a layout engineered for functionality and speed, meals will be delivered fresher, faster and more efficiently, creating a better dining experience for every student.

Project Timeline

To minimize disruption to student life, the project will be completed in phases.

  • Infrasture work will begin immediately upon full funding.

  • Equipment installation will take place during summer breaks.

  • Full completion is targeted for July 2027.
