BRUIN SPORTS CENTER

  • Congratulations to both the girls and boys track teams for their efforts last night at the Tri-County Conference track and field meet at Seneca. The Lady Bruins were led by Lily Bosnich who won the 100 hurdles in a new conference and school record.  In this event, she previously broke a 25-year-old record from 2000 and broke her own record last night.  She also teamed up with Bailey Engels, Kijah Lucas and Emerald De La Torre who won the 4 x 400 relay in a new school record.  The previous record was set back in 1994. Lily was also 2ND in the 100-meter dash and 2nd in the 300 hurdles.  Savannah Bray also beat her own school record in the shot put and placed 2nd. The ladies finished 3rd as a team. For the boys, they were led by Greyson Marincic and Kaden Nauman. Greyson won the 110 and 300 hurdles.  Both of his times broke the Tri-County Conference meet records. Kaden won the 3200-meter run, was 2ND in the 800-meter run and along with Greyson, Kennen Grisham and Landon Balestri, finished 2nd in the 4 x 400-meter relay. The Boys finished 4th as a team.

Cinco de Mayo commemorates the town of Puebla standing against Napoleon III's French army attacks in 1862. Today, cities with large Mexican-American populations celebrate Cinco de Mayo as a way to honor their heritage and culture.

And a huge shoutout to senior Andrea Brandner—our December Teen of the Month, who was also named local Teen of the Year and placed 2nd at the state level in the Elks Teen of the Year competition! What an amazing accomplishment!  We’re proud to have all of you representing the Bruin family!

❖      All students & parents are invited to attend the College Information Night presentation on Wednesday, May 14, 6-7:30 pm in the PSC. Learn about the college application process, scholarships and more! This presentation is geared toward juniors but students and parents at all grade levels are invited to attend.  It’s never too early to start planning!

  • Thank you to the students, staff and faculty who donated blood or volunteered to work at the St. Bede Blood Drive!  We collected 62 units of blood yesterday. Combined with our February drive, we’ve collected a total of 110 units of blood, potentially saving up to 330 lives which is an incredible achievement. Because of this success, the Red Cross is not only awarding a $1,000 scholarship but an additional $500 scholarship. The drawing for seniors will be held on May 7th during graduation practice. Thank you for making a life-saving impact!

  • Are you interested in photography and are looking for places to practice? Mr. Steben is looking for summer help taking pictures at our various summer camps and activities. If you want to be a photographer for the school this summer, we will have a short meeting in the Loft this THURSDAY during homeroom. Students in every grade level are welcome to attend to learn more!

  • Our final Last Supper Club of the year will meet on Wednesday, May 14th at Koi Sushi & Hibachi at 6:00pm. Seniors will be welcome to join us. Mark your calendars and check out a menu today!

  • Seniors: May 1st is the National College Decision Day deadline for students to submit their enrollment deposit to the college they plan to attend! If you miss the deadline you will lose the opportunity to attend that college.  Get your deposits in today if you have not already done so.

  • Students attending the Costa Rica trip in December, please enter your passport information into your EF account by the end of this school year.  If you don’t have a passport get your application submitted asap so you can complete the interview process before school starts in August.

    • Congratulations to both girls and boys track teams for their outstanding showing at the Rollie Morris Invitational. Leading the lady bruins was Lily Bosnich who won four events. 100m, 100m hurdles, 200m and the 300m hurdles. Her 100m time set a new St. Bede track record and her 100m hurdle time set a new Rollie Morris event record. Kate Duncan was 2nd in the High Jump and 6th in the Triple Jump. The 4 x 100 relay of Emerald De La Torre, Leah Griggs, Bailey Engels and Kijah Lucas finished 2nd. Leah was a also 5th in the long Jump and 6th in the 200m. Kijah was 6th in the long jump. Maggie Arkins was 5th in the 800m and teaming with Emerald, Bailey, and Sara Ruiz they were 5th in the 4 x 400 relay. Rounding out the lady bruins third place team finish was Libby Huffaker and Lacey Griggs who were 9th and 20th respectively in the discus, Ella Lamboley was 11th in the 1600m, Areesah Joop 13th in the 400, and Sara 14th in the 800.
      For the Guys they were led by Greyson Marincic who won both the 110m and 300m hurdles, he teamed up with Kennon Grisham, Trajan Raffity, and Landon Balestri for a 7th in the 4x100 relay and Kennon, Jose De La Torre and Kaden Nauman for 5th in the 4 x 400 relay. Kaden also ran to 3rd place in the 800m, Kennon 4th and 7th in the 110 and 300 hurdles respectively and Jose was 4th in the Pole Vault. Wil Sramek was 4th in the Discus and 6th in the shot put. Rounding out the guy’s 8th place team finish was Trajan’s 6th and 9th place in the pole vault and 100m, and Jack Maschmann 13th and 18th in the discus and shot put.
